Back to 3-5-2 unless Maycock is going to drop in alongside Smith and Sasu plays where Tilley did. Stockley/Sasu should work on paper but doesn’t. I thought Mcneilly looked far more like he knew how to play off a number 9. I had to think for a couple of minutes who on earth Freddie Simmons was 🧐.

Give JJ some credit for that one. Team looked on it from the start and formation change worked a treat. Stockley was outstanding, thought Harrison, Sessegnon and Bursik brought some welcome calmness to our play and Maycock was everywhere after he came on. Bromley were dreadful. COYD!

When I was unemployed during the Great Recession, everything on the TV was about how you should hate the unemployed. Every time I got a job there'd be other staff who just hated the unemployed but not me. I was okay. They've done this to so many groups since and they have got so much better at it.

Game we had to win and did without really deserving it. If Wigan forwards could hit a wall from inside a barn we’d have lost. Bright spots towards the end though, suspect the team that finished may be closer to the best XI than those that started. Mcneilly looks a massive upgrade on Sasu. COYD!

Penalties were fun but that was a worrying performance. For a team with so much continuity we seemed disorganized and body language was off. A bit better once Stockley came on to give us a target and they tired but we can’t rely on him playing many minutes.

Browne and Sasu are terrible target men (not a comment on them but booting the ball in their general direction is a waste of time). Worrying that we seem to have no control in midfield against a team who should be 30 places below us.

We’ve had limited success with premier league outfield loanees, a few have flickered but can’t think of one who has been a difference maker since Forss. A lot of L1 teams have had success with them, let’s hope this lad is one of the gems.

Parts 1 and 2 done. Now have to work some magic to improve squad vs last season. From Cope’s interview sounds like the loan market is the likely route. We’ve done ok historically with loan players, other clubs in L1 have done better though. Anyone have any ideas for potential targets?

Two sensible signings so far in Dan Sweeney and Zack Nelson. Very pleased with that. Sweeney a regular in a strong L1 team for 3 years and at 32 should have a couple of decent years left, he was a late starter as a full time pro.
