Nearly 3,000 people have been reported missing.” Arrow icon in bottom right corner.Black background. “Nepal's Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle said Nepal may need $4 billion to $5 billion to rebuild after the floods.” Screenshot of Reuters article headline tilted “Nepal's flood damage may cost up to a tenth of economy to rebuild”, updated on August 30, 2026. “Who should be footing the bill for the impacts of this climate disaster? Hint: it's not Nepal.”Black background. “The devastating climate disaster in Nepal is a tragedy and an injustice. Countries in the Global North are disproportionately responsible for climate breakdown. Fossil fuel executives deceived the public about how pollution from burning fossil fuels supercharges climate disasters, from floods to wildfires. The communities of the Global South, which has contributed the least to this crisis, are the ones suffering the most. It's time for the Global North to finally pay up its climate debt and finance a just transition to a climate-safe future.”

In Germany, Wind and Solar Overtake Fossil Fuels
Together, wind and solar generated 44 percent of Germany’s electricity, while fossil fuels generated roughly 43 percent, according to data from the Energy Institute, a think tank based in London. The figures represent a major milestone for the German “Energiewende,” or “energy turnaround,” a national push to ramp up renewable energy and phase out gas, coal, and nuclear power.
