I paid for WinRAR decades ago and my licence has never had a problem. Maybe contact them and find out what's up? They have a BlueSky account, which I actually expected to see posting in this thread somewhere, and seem very approachable.

if you encounter this cat at a crossroads and she asks if you’d like to make some sort of bargain, you may have many questions. that is normal. "how did she get here?" "how does she talk?" "why does she want my immortal soul?" curiosity is natural. but do not make the deal. this is important.
