Spent the afternoon in the garden, and had one person stop to take a picture of my unicorn sculpture and another stop to ask me about how I got started creating a habitat garden because they want to do the same thing. I needed that reminder that the world isn’t entirely against me right now.

Money is tight, my aunt appears to be developing Alzheimer’s, things are tense at work, the teen is having emotional problems, and the dude across the street just threatened to report me to the city for hosting a free fridge and “attracting crime.” But at least going to the DMV was quick and easy.

It really sucks that “public safety” has become less keeping sidewalks in good repair, installing and maintaining streetlights, and building safety infrastructure for pedestrians and commuters and more “keep the homeless away from my storefront at any cost but also don’t you dare raise my taxes”
