To my knowledge, there is not a single gay bar in Jamaica. Same sex relations are punishable by a 10-year prison sentence there. Gay marriage is not legal in Jamaica. Gay couples cannot adopt in Jamaica. So, I'm not sure how you can suggest that Jamaica is "no more or less homophobic than the US"?

I'm glad thing are improving in Jamaica and yes, the US has a ways to go. But same sex relations between adults has been legal in the US since Lawrence v. TX in '03 & gay marriage has been the law of the land since Obergefell in '15. There's still a big disparity between the countries on this front.

It's a fair point but Trump is a unique phenomenon. He was in the public eye for decades, was widely known across the country because of The Apprentice and, for all of his faults, is a great showman. MTG is none of those things. Plus, she's a woman - which sadly, this country seems unable to elect.

The Senate is a big ❓. I have trouble believing all of the Republicans there – many w/ potentially long careers ahead – will want to go on record protecting a pedophile (or at least someone so closely associated with a pedophile). Will there be enough votes to override Trump's veto though? Doubtful.
