There are probably better ways to resist, but right now, I’m just trying to control what I can control. I’m turning to the local rather than the global. I’m tending children, animals, plants, and art. I’m making poems and good food. I’m coaxing good into the world, where I can.

beautiful rust-dark streaks on the breast,

late light entering

eternity. Thus can a bird like that
be so ignored

these Anne Waldman circular poem-snippets would make great stickers
A circle, slightly faded on one side, inscribed with the words: “flutter of doves / ardent // yet subservient”A circle, with just a little fading around where the 30-degree angle would be in standard position, inscribed with the words: “Lord of.the Net”

filled with silence and horror Georg Trakl, tr. Will Stone
An Evening

At evening the sky was clouded over.
And through the grove filled with silence and horror
Drove a dark-golden shudder.
Evening bells died away in the distance.

The earth has drunk icy water,
At the forest's edge a fire lay smouldering,
The wind sang softly with angel voices
And trembling I drop to my knees,

In the heather, in bitter cresses.
Far beyond clouds swam in silver laughter
Forsaken sentinels of love.
The heath was lonely and vast.
