Personally, I’d settle for a single lock. I just want my earnings to increase by inflation for once.

When the GFC began unfolding in 2007, I was only a couple of years removed from my brief stint as a trader and was still following financial markets closely. I remember being struck by how little public alarm there seemed to be. Anyway, I’m not sure why that came back to me just now…

I do enjoy my old college’s alumni emails: Could you donate a) £500, b) £5000, or c) £50000? My friend, I found 50p on the bedroom floor yesterday and that went straight into the cash-for-haircuts pot.

The problem with having had a short stint in finance many years ago, is that in moments like this, I revert to reading about things like “Treasury basis trades” to understand how my personal finances will ultimately get screwed over again, which if you think about it, is not a very good use of time.

I’m considering placing reciprocal tariffs on my inbox. £2 for each message from that guy who emails me once a month to see if I want to buy his reagents. £10 for every email from an MDPI journal.
