BBC in the UK has just dropped the whole 23-episode first season of Krapopolis, and as someone who was subsisting on a 10-week dribble of bad Futurama episodes, it feels like a lifesaver.

This beautiful woodcut print is Evening Glow at Seta by master Japanese printmaker Utagawa Hiroshige. It comes from a series called Eight Views of Ōmi which celebrates Ōmi province (modern Shiga prefecture) in both poetry and art.
A colour woodcut print of the evening sun in Seta. There is a river with boats through the centre, and mountains in the background.A colour woodcut print of the evening sun in Seta. There is a river with boats through the centre, and mountains in the background.

Fair play to Andy Burnham, "Everyone in for Christmas" is a specific and measurable target that's also an emotive and instantly understandable piece of political messaging.

Emily Wilson's review of the Odyssey has crashed the LRB website, so here are some of her points. --it was TOO LOUD --There were no sex scenes and all the food looked horrible --The Sea People aren't a thing --Odysseus could build a better raft than that --I would be ashamed to write this script

Darth Agamemnon is my favorite part of Nolan's Odyssey. All the rest of it is gritty realism in the Saving Private Ryan mode, but Benny Safdie brings a welcome dash of Star Wars to the mix.

I put “is it OK that I read this problematic author” in the same category. What you do with your decades-old Neil Gaiman books carries no actual moral weight. The equation changes for buying new copies that give terrible people money, sure. But the stakes here are far lower than we pretend.

A Doctor Who title from the Colin Baker era. It says 'Attic of the Cybermen' which is a witty pub on existing story 'Attack of the Cybermen'. Geddit?

PRODUCER:
Congratulations Henry
Your lute thing is a hit and your story is now one of uncomplicated musical success!

[Show a panel with lots of Beatlemania-style scenes of success for Henry the musician - swooning tudor girls, playing lute on stage, waving to fans as he descends from his golden carriage. In the middle of it in Tudor lettering are the words]:

“UNCOMPLICATED MUSICAL SUCCESS MONTAGE”.

[Another scene - a man is saying to Henry]:

MAN:
Say Henry VIII -
Are you doing anything outside this narrative that is very bad or weird?

HENRY VIII:

Doctor Who has never had a complete reboot. It should never have a complete reboot. 60+ years of patchy development is part of the charm. If you feel the lore is an impediment, just do a 2005 reinvention.
