I always felt this series was underrated. Really captured the spirit of the original. And they did some fun origin explainers in their final season (e.g. why the Klingons changed appearance)

One element of a solution to this is proactive housing development by unions and employers specifically for their workers (are a couple of existing TO examples). E.g. school unions and boards could partner to build such housing on unused school board property. spacing.ca/toronto/2026...

I have written about bridges (spacing.ca/toronto/2020...), this speaks to me. From A Word A Day.
A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
From everything that man erects and builds in his urge for living, nothing in my eyes is better and more valuable than bridges. They are more important than houses, more sacred than shrines. Belonging to everyone and being equal to everyone, useful, always built with a sense, on the spot where most human needs are crossing, they are more durable than other buildings and they do not serve for anything secret or bad. -Ivo Andric, novelist, Nobel laureate (9 Oct 1892-1975)

It's astonishing to me that no one has stepped forward to get a proposal going for either an upper age limit (80 years would hardly be extreme) or a term limit for SCOTUS. Clearly there would be widespread support.

Do NOT rent "one free month" apartments because you're helping to keep the rent artificially higher than the market's actually bearing, which is why they're having to lure in people who aren't math-savvy about the differences long-term.

Effective representation needs more than just butts in seats, but it's clear a critical mass is necessary. This is long recognized in studies of women's legislative representation. Reducing partisanship and having more Indigenous voices has made the Senate an increasingly important institution.

Similarly, at the English portrait gallery, 70% of visitors are English, connecting with their country. The British Museum is only 20%. But important that it has evolved from "great men" origin to truly reflect the nation.

A lot of discussion of how a portrait gallery is both history and art, between a gallery and a museum. Potentially more accessible as people relate easily to people. It was noted that, with ubiquitous cameras and selfies, most everyone is a portrait artist in some way.
