I’m more proud of sticking to my goals with this design. I wanted the card points to matter like they do in every other Trifle design I make. That’s what makes it a Trifle game for me. And I think matters A LOT, and I’m stoked for that.

I’ve made a few trick taking games now and I still don’t really understand why a particular design suits must follow, must trump, may follow, or may trump. Yet I invariably find I have strong opinions about which is needed early on in the process.

I find myself designing two (2) explicitly 2v2 trick takers and it is very annoying to have such an exact player count needed for testing.

I tried to get BGG to remove EndersGame‘s violations of my own copyright and the process was too difficult for me. I bet a lot of rights holders similarly can’t be bothered, or are unaware.

Star Cargo was one that caught my eye and it looks like Kenefick too. Probably others. They have 30000 images, mostly copyright violations, on BGG, so it would be hard to find them all.

Absolutely wild that user EndersGame hasn’t been kicked off BGG with all their flagrant copyright breaking. Their latest trick? Adding AI generated images as logos for indie games they were not involved with. 🤢 I would be so livid if someone did that to one of my games.

Buttons! So many buttons! I wanted to add a tactile element to an upcoming game I've been working on, and they were just too perfect. (Though they turned out to be a little bit small so I may need to buy bigger ones. And then make another game to use these.)

Aging myself here, but I think this dynamic has been in play at least as long as I’ve been in the hobby. I don’t think it’s new or much changed. If anything, the burgeoning proliferation of small, rough around the edges, higher cost indie releases seems fresh and different.
