As a game thinker, personally, I'm not interested in distinguishing games clearly from other kinds of behaviors and activities. I'm interested in finding and learning from the games that are hiding, unidentified, unrecognized, unacknowledged in the other things we do.

Often when I add pictures on here, type up alt text, and press post, it disappears and doesn’t post. I would say 75% of the time. I never bother redoing all that work. I just don’t post whatever it was. Wonderful website very stable.

At one point, years and years ago, I really wanted to try the game Tannhauser. I don’t remember why; it probably got mentioned in a forum topic and then lodged itself in my brain. Anyway, I noticed the other day that it is on BGA, so I spun up a game and tried it. It’s fine. Not really my thing.

I am a black coffee drinker at home, but I make a cup exactly how I like it, so when I’m out I mix it up instead of getting disappointed. Which is how I ended up rolling the dice on the local coffee shop’s Carrot Cake Latte with homemade carrot syrup and cream cheese whipped cream. It was 🔥.

Backrooms wasn’t what I was expecting, but I felt in the end it wasn’t sure what it wanted to say. Send Help was less horror-coded than the thumbnail suggested. Fun enough, forgettable.

Open world video game where you are waiting for packages to arrive except because it’s a video game you are allowed to track and hunt down the packages yourself to liberate them from UPS’s stranglehold instead of just smashing f5 (you can choose to just refresh too, it’s open world after all)

Why does every package tracking interface have you click a little “show details” button to get the goods? If I’m the kind of neurotic refresher who actually tracks their package in the first place, you can go ahead and assume from the jump that I want all the details too.

When I was in university I had a book I used as a mousepad. It was a small hardcover copy of Fred Hoyle’s “October the First is Too Late”. I read it a couple times, but I used it as a mousepad for years. This day always reminds me of it, for obvious reasons.

I have mixed feelings about vibe coded card game websites. A ton have popped up, made mostly by real enthusiasts, and often showcasing games that otherwise would have no digital version. It’s hard to see that as an unalloyed evil, but I’m still not super keen to engage with them or their authors.
