The idea is to decouple the journals from the review step. They’ll still exist, but they’ll need to add other value. They’ll highlight, curate, add new perspectives. If they do a good job they can still be prestigious (like Scientific American or Wired) (1.2) 👇

Last week, we published a paper that really excites me: "Circuit compression for 2D quantum dynamics" Using Pauli propagation, we (Matteo) were able to compress Trotter circuits for systems up to 30x30 with depth reductions of x2 to x13. Link: arxiv.org/abs/2507.01883

After an admittedly failed first attempt for me personally, it somehow feels quite nice to be part of this (still small, mildly active) bubble, this time around. I'm so intrigued to see whether we'll manage to keep things alive as long as we need to, and within bounds after that! 🦋

We normally don't promote products of other quantum startups, but @qottmann.bsky.social has written some really nice explanations of dynamical Lie algebras bsky.app/profile/qott... and the time-ordered exponential bsky.app/profile/qott... which we do recommend!

It drives me nuts that the notation of the time-ordered exponential implies that it is a function Texp(∙) with an integral as its argument inside 🤬 Full rant: pennylane.ai/blog/2024/09...

What is the time-ordered exponential and why you should stop using it | PennyLane Blog
A highly opinionated quick rant about the time-ordered exponential operator, why its notation is misleading, why the time-ordering business is unnecessary and why we should just stop using it.
