Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that! I looked it up and it's super interesting; iron is super rare on the ocean surface, so adding it leads to huge amounts of phytoplankton that suck up CO², then sink or get eaten. It happens naturally and is believed to be the cause of the last ice age!

Were there that many side effects? I know there's a bounch-back effect if you stop, that's worse than just doing nothing, but... assuming we don't stop until we've sorted our shit out, I mean. I think the price tag is estimated at something like $2billion/year which is an absolute steal 😬

wait, could we stop all crime if we invented time machines? if the government simply *promises* one time machine to every criminal who goes back and undoes their crimes... then there won't ever be crime. The government would make the promise... and then crime rates fall 99% overnight

if a time machine was invented, the justice system would just kinda stop working, right? if a person is suspected of a crime, but they can't be found guilty, how do you know that the suspect didn't buy a time machine in the future, go back and help himself destroy the most damning piece of evidence?

Scoob is long dead. Shaggy is sober and really into running; he divorced Velma years ago. Daphne is happily married with kids, and a big RFK/MAHA supporter. The son of an authoritarian asking another authoritarian to nuke a country is not the same as a refugee saying "Our lives are so bad, I wish somebody would end it all" The difference is that I trust refugees but I don't trust authoritarians. One is damaged, the other is evil. Hope that clears it up.

Your framing is wrong; if you said "I wish someone would incinerate my whole country", I don't think "yeah, killing is cool and I wish all of you were dead". I think, "Damn, your country must be terrible to a point that I struggle to imagine. We should take that to heart and do what we can to help."

No, they always describe an alien experience where they are handheld through Pyongyang and every place they are shown is void of people.
