Finally I think I got about 50 new unique StreetPasses. I focused on maximizing my Warrior's Way army when I want to be quick about it, which is now around 6M, and become newly hooked on Market Crashers

I've long toyed with the thought to start streaming random games as a side hustle, but getting out there makes me realize I really just aught to get in the habit of doing it as a casual social thing at the least, just gotta accept the setup can't be perfect at first.

however ultimately it is a great place to be, I wouldn't swear off returning each year if I have the means. I'm still no good at making friends so it's an amazing feeling just sitting down with a game in the arcade/console free play area and somebody may just come and strike up a conversation

and I get that NES Tetris has a healthy competitive scene, but why is THAT like the biggest most permanent staple with the biggest loudest stage running all day every day of the event every time? I adore tetris and puzzle games in general need more love, but can anything else get a turn?

for the heightened entry fee it doesn't seem as great a return, it's not quite as densely packed with events and activity (due to increased exhibitor cost too apparently), no DJ or live music, and not even a free tote bag?

I thought surely by now there'd be merchants focusing on flash carts, or a sort of boutique scene of custom repro carts, and some more reselling of emulation handhelds among the og hardware to help balance things out and maybe drive down scarcity. there is a teensy bit of it but we're not there yet

quite thinner than past years, it still feels like hunting through the scraps in the aftermath of the big collector and speculative buyer inflation, tho I still cling to hope this scene will eventually self regulate a bit. it used to be the place for less affluent gamers to stock up on sweet deals

why do so many pinball machines implement long confusing multiplayer modes that are too easily accidentally accessible while on free play mode? does anyone actually use this outside of niche competitions? I expect those would run by their own rules and individual plays anyways

it would be extra nuts if the hyper realistic drive sims actually included full damage simulation because they'd probably take all the actual detailed crash test data into account and make each model accurately crumple in its distinct manner

oohh the first Pony Island is currently free to add to your steam library. I know Inscyption was their real big hit, but it's worth checking out to see how this style of mixed media variety game focused on solving meta secrets grew and evolved

I know there are many cases where ports and recomps outperform and do things emulation can't, but the motivation behind creating them lately comes off more like chasing a greater high. it don't matter that emulation gets 99% of the way just fine, it just doesn't hit the same for them anymore
