He’s not the PAC treasurer though, Kyle Prosen is, and the PAC treasurer for these three front-PACs is the person who is ultimately legally liable for misreporting. That’s what I mean, that Isaacs is weaseling out of it even though he is obviously the driver (or one of the drivers at least)

Hard to overstate how scummy this crowd is. The same group of power players hiding behind 3 PACs where they put up a random stooge as treasurer to take the legal penalties of their malfeasance

Several intersections backed up multiple blocks with car traffic, minimal space to go around them. Saw one overconfident cyclist get frustrated and zoom onto the sidewalk and nearly hit a kid. Thanks ODOT

Bullshit I5 project redirecting a ton of car traffic down NE 7th, which is supposed to be a greenway and is one of the best bike streets to get to the central city from N/NE Portland

I think if you witness an ongoing atrocity and choose to do nothing about it and insist that that is a neutral position, that actually maybe makes you a party to atrocity

This is kind of a funny article because it tries so hard to pretend that it doesn’t know why people are mad about this, nor does it really know what this company does. Very obvious intentional obfuscation here

Between PIR, the airport, and Portland’s largest industrial zone and trucking routes, I’m pretty sick of N/NE Portland being the city’s noise and air pollution sacrifice zone

I’m always hearing whining and complaining from the conservative councilors that the progs can’t compromise. Yet here is ANOTHER high profile case that lots of portlanders care about where they blocked all amendments attempting to get even an ounce of protection and benefit for regular portlanders

Introducing the Fair Share Tax, Portland’s small businesses shouldn’t shoulder the burden while corporations reward CEOs hundreds of times more than their workers and enjoy generous tax breaks. Today, @councilorgreen.bsky.social and I will introduce the Fair Share Tax plan to change that.

on the one hand - they were built as speculative assets and then failed. On the other hand, you could say they were way ahead of their time - the old streetcar routes to what were suburbs 100 years ago now trace the commercial corridors of what we would probably consider the central cities now
121
jesse @duckd4d.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
this is missing a big part of the story - well before this happened, streetcar systems (then privatized) were already going bankrupt starting in the 1910’s because they were often owned/built by property developers as amenities for the suburbs they were building. Basically loss-leaders

jesse @duckd4d.bsky.social · 02/08/2026
If you moved it entirely to the inner east side and skipped downtown, you’d also unclog the system’s biggest bottleneck, the steel bridge and RQ interlocking, which currently prevents future higher service frequency because it’s basically impossible to schedule more trains through it

Would need a planning study but I think prioritizing a line with a bit of right of way space and a fair amount of underutilized or vacant buildings would be ideal, like the 6 or the 12

jesse @duckd4d.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Local funds could come from PCEF and Social Housing rev loan fund. Gets around Faircloth bc federal funds would come from FTA, not HUD. There are probably other smaller statutory or policy hurdles related to FTA grant rules but idk its a fun idea to think about
020
jesse @duckd4d.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
My crank idea is that the CoP should gamble on a favorable FTA in 2028 and start the planning work with Metro/TriMet now for a new starts grant to do at least one BRT conversion that prioritizes at least land banking, if not direct funding of social housing
