Last week, our @kirkscanlan.bsky.social attended the @igsoc.bsky.social #Radioglaciology symposium in Tübingen 🇩🇪 Here he presented some the great work coming out of the @esaearth.esa.int #ARCTEX project using 🛰️s to study extreme Arctic events 🤯 Overall a fantastic meeting with amazing research!

At the @esa.int #PISCO and @snowpi.bsky.social hackathon last week, Anna, Kirk, and Tabea joined 30+ researchers from around the world to dig through gigabytes of #EO and climate model data to tackle some exciting polar questions ❄️ 🧊 Let's dig into a couple below👇
DTU Space team! Both Kirk and Tabea were mentors for two projects and Anna (in the middel) were a participant. Wanna know more about the project they did? Check out the following posts :) Not all time was spend coding. Some evenings were also spend enjoying the nice settings. For the second year, our group has joined the national Vi Cykler Til Arbejde #vcta (We Bike to Work) campaign in the month of May! 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️💨💨 Our "Polar Pedalers"❄️🥶 team biked 166 days and 2767 kilometers with Anna and Kirk leading the team in total bike days and bike kilometers!

The @imaqa.be SILA expedition has completed its 1,700 km ski kite traverse of the Greenland Ice Sheet, reaching Qaanaaq on May 18th 🎉 All four explorers are home safe and the GNSS elevation data collected for DTU Space is on its way. Proud to have supported the science behind this exciting mission.

Our PhD Student @mikkelaabykruse.bsky.social is currently getting a taste of what it is like to do fieldwork in the Arctic at The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS)❄️🥽 🧤 Working on a glacier is no safe or easy task, and UNIS is a great place to learn the ropes of what it means to be a glaciologist!

We have provided new Greenland Ice Sheet mass loss estimates to @polarportal.bsky.social. These are derived from the #GRACE and #GRACE-FO missions, and show that since the launch of GRACE in 2002, the ice sheet has lost approximately 5200 gigatonnes of ice!
