Possible but could be net new, I guess we’ll see…

It’s a pretty wide spread here, low end around $5, no idea how the extra dollar a gallon stations are staying in business

I’ve started to see high levels end of regular gas prices around here start to hit $6 (Pacific Northwest)

Kiddo #2 is doing vocal lessons weekly and on the way there’s a house with a Charlie Kirk sign out front which every time ends up with a nice vocal warm up in the form of “We are Charlie Kirk…”

Out of curiosity did you read the book and if so how do you think it compares? I thought the book was decent if not amazing.

Curious on a write up of your thoughts on UNAS vs Synology from a software perspective particularly around remote access. Synology drive is neat, it was lot clear to me that that unas had a direct replacement.

Sadly see the same thing on the democrat side too, seems like that’s the default option now unless folks opt out.

Daniel Peterson @dspeterson.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

My mother in law donated to a couple of democrat campaigns and has gotten hundreds of emails/text messages a week for years. I go through and unsubscribe/flag as spam on all of them about once a week and it doesn't help. The people who run these organizations are a blight on society.

Just finished up Star Trek Deep Space Nine. I didn’t watch it through when it originally aired so lots of new stuff. I do kinda miss when shows got 20+ episode seasons, adds a lot that current shows miss. Now just need to finish up @greatesttrek.com run of DS9 episodes and figure out what’s next!

Can't think of a thing that will radicalize a generation faster than "you've gotta let that old man in the corner over there see what's inside those pants before you play Kindergarten volleyball."

Walmart clearance can be completely variable store to store but worth checking if people are out and about

Game #19: Tiny Book Shop A super chill no-stakes management game about selling books in a small seaside town. You build connections and community and work through requests. This was a great "relax after work" game that never felt like it stressed me out.

Game #18: Blackjacket A blackjack based roguelike with a story that you discover through various runs. I definitely haven't discovered everything but I've completed enough of the story paths I think to call it "beaten".

Services like Apple Pay hide the card number used which Walmart uses to aggregate all of your purchase data together, which I think led Walmart to just banning NFC entirely. Very consumer unfriendly, their chip readers also wear out, I had to swipe the magstripe last time I was there.

We stayed at an rental house with a newer Samsung tv recently and it would turn it back on the next time the tv turned back on. Was not invested enough to find a way to make it stick.

Oh god, is this the tv show version of the “it gets real good but the first 10 hours are a slog” video game?

I found it finicky and the adjustments jarring, it never seemed to do a decent job of figuring out what the right setting was

Supposedly game pass engagement OR sales are their metrics to cover both cases, some of obsidian stuff got zinged for low engagement which is a bummer

Hahaha this is some insane stuff even by LinkedIn standards

An insane LinkedIn post probably made by AI showing a sad women standing in front of a server rack while an angry mob outside protests data centers. The ad is a call to action for a website that promises to get data center workers compensation for any suffering or harassment they may have received.

The USA is doing sportswashing all wrong. The idea is you do a Russia or a Qatar and welcome everyone in, trying to appear super-cute so that people stop thinking about your appalling human rights violations and corruption. You're not meant to shine a light on it. Stupid country.

This feels like the every election in Washington State. We are all vote by mail and republicans lose every statewide election they run in because they run shitty candidates. The comments every time are “this must be fraud because I don’t know a single person who voted for X”

Game #17: Kabuto Park A game from the folks who did Minami Lane, another fairly quick casual enjoyable game. This focuses on bug collection and some maybe pokemon style battles over the course of a summer. A great pick up and go gamepass game!

Game #16: Replaced This was beautiful pixelart cyberpunky style side scroller that hit gamepass Day 1. Enjoyed it all the way throughout and I have no idea how they pulled this off graphically.

Replaced video game cover art. Top half is a stylized man with blowing long hair, bottom half shows a person in silhouette on top of a train in a futuristic looking city being pursued by police on foot and in flying police cars.
