I knew the phrase 'queen of air and darkness', but didn't know Housman came up with it. Pretty metal poem.
Her Strong Enchantments Failing
AE Housman

Her strong enchantments failing,
Her towers of fear in wreck,
Her limbecks dried of poisons
And the knife at her neck,

The Queen of air and darkness
Begins to shrill and cry,
'O young man, O my slayer,
To-morrow you shall die.'

O Queen of air and darkness,
I think 'tis truth you say,
And I shall die tomorrow;
But you will die to-day.

Realizing I'm probably 1 of few Roman historians who distinguish for students between Etruscan & Magna Graecian city-states as: "Is this dude dining with his wife? Etruscan. With his boyfriend? Definitely Greek." I'm not a structuralist, but pants/no pants distinctions are easy shorthands!

@andreagrimes.com I was in Basel, Switzerland today and saw this one guy swimming down the Rhine while towing two poodles down the river on a boogie board. It felt so Austin I couldn't not share.
Panoramic view of the elegant European waterfront of the city of Basel, Switzerland. It is along the Rhine river, which is very wide. A bunch of people (very tiny) are swimming in the river, but there is this one swimmer who is towing along his two poodles who are on a single boogie board. One is standing and the other is sitting.

@oakleaf.bsky.social Men subtle in their facades.
This is a 100% real building that exists in Freiburg, Germany, but really it looks too over the top for even a Disney movie. It's Medieval/Renaissance-y, there's a one story tall window box that sticks out maybe a meter and a half over the door, and it's painted with gold curlicues that make it look like a Medieval manuscript. If this were not enough, there are two gargoyle statues.

Also, because this is Freiburg, there are a bunch of bikes parked outside the building.
