Attending the DAUK Jenny Vaughan Memorial Conference. Listening to the tragic story of Dr David Sellu and his miscarriage of justice and how Jenny led the appeal that saw his conviction overturned. #DAUKConf25 #learnnotblame

It's been a terrible week. A terrible, terrible week. The worst people on earth are full of energy and vigour, the best are defined by anxiety and self-doubt. Here are three simple rules to surviving the next four years, because by God we'll need them iandunt.substack.com/p/a-little-b...

So this is the new great idea🤔 I’m pretty sure if Sarah had seen a GP she wouldn’t have needed to have a CT scan, no need to speak to the ENT registrar & yes it could be managed in the community Why does NHS England always underestimate the skills of GPs? www.england.nhs.uk/long-read/re...

There needs to be more of a sense of urgency from the government. We've already lost 1000 GP practices. If we lose more, the NHS collapses.

NHS England has neglected the fact that the increase in cash terms includes payments to PCNs These payments aren’t available for GP practices to use Stripping this away, practices have had real terms cuts in income Fewer GPs employed, practices closing and many more considering closures or cut backs

Today like every week day 1.3m people will consult in General Practice 1/30 will need emergency care at A&E 1/5 will need a referral to another NHS service for investigation or treatment in the future GP practices have been dealing with 20% more patients than 2019 5.6% of the budget #GeneralPractice

The average number of patients to GP is 2300, a safe limit is considered 1800 There are some areas this is so much worse & disproportionately affects areas of deprivation Closures of practices mean other GPs struggle as it’s virtually impossible to close a list We need a safe limits for all #MedSky

Did you know that your practice receives just £112.50 per year for each patient, whatever their health needs. That’s less than the cost of an annual TV licence. It’s just 31p a day for every patient GP & practice team needs more to support patient care #GeneralPractice youtu.be/Tds7ML2OfY8?...

I love Ian Hislop but it’s worth noting that most of us would balk at the prospect of publicly admonishing a wrongdoer whose conduct you condemn in this way. I did it once to the UKIP/Reform/Brexit twerp Richard Tice but that took exactly zero guts. This is speaking truth to actual power…

General Practice is struggling to deliver for patients. Yet, we are the first port of call for 1.4 million patients a day. We have fewer GPs and practices. Without support for NI hike, like rest of #NHS has, GP practices are at risk of closing. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

BREATHE Over the years my work as a Dr has felt like this, working in isolation, occasionally coming up for breath, occasionally catching a colleague and having a brief chat. But then head down and carry on. I suspect it’s been much worse over the past few years for many.
