The June 2026 pay deal for resident doctors is starting to come into effect - on top of the DDRB uplift, the nodal point uplifts in the deal will apply from this month, meaning most resident doctors should also receive a lump sum of back pay. (1/2)

A clear majority of consultants voted for strike action in July, and we're finally getting round the table for talks with Government. Helen Neary explains that, although talks are going well, we still need more movement on key issues. All our concerns need to be addressed to avoid industrial action.

More than 200 resident doctors will begin new pilot placements in England today, marking the first step towards much-needed reform of an absurd rotational training system. It's hoped these pilots will reduce the unnecessary waste and disruption caused by the current system.

At a recent Court of Appeal hearing, the GMC continued to argue that it doesn't have a duty of care to doctors. This comes after an NHS doctor tragically took his own life within hours of receiving a letter from the regulator. Join our campaign to reform the GMC: www.bma.org.uk/GMCreform

The Government has had to change its approach after a legal challenge highlighted the misleading way it described a recommendation by Lord Mann regarding the GMC’s right of appeal. We now need to see meaningful reform of the GMC that will both support doctors and protect patients.

One year after the Leng Review, the High Court has dismissed a legal challenge to its implementation on all grounds. With patient safety at stake, the Govt and NHS must act quickly to stop PAs from seeing undifferentiated patients. We will push for all necessary safeguards to protect patient safety
