"What do we know about a place that could help us make better decisions for nature, climate and people?" This is the question we're asking @nattrustarch.bsky.social because uniting historic landscape knowledge and nature conservation will help tackle the nature and climate crisis. 📷James Dobson

Extraordinary photos of the collapsed Stonehenge trilithon being moved, in The Sphere this weekend in 1958: "raising the column from the hole where it had remained since its collapse proved more difficult than anticipated & gave the workmen & experts several moments of anxiety" #StandingStoneSunday
Cutting from The Sphere (May 3 1958) headlined "STONEHENGE RESTORATION Ministry of Works Experts Prepare to Re-erect a Fallen Trilithon at the Prehistoric Monument on Salisbury Plain" with a photo captioned: "PREPARING FOR A BIG LIFT: A 52-ton cracked sandstone column, part of a trilithon which collapsed at Stonehenge in 1797, and which is being re-erected by the Ministry of Works, is lifted by a 60-ton crane. It was the last of the major stones to be moved at Stonehenge before the work of restoration started."
