5 important bills have become law today! The removal of the 2-child cap on benefits is law! The removal of hereditary peers from the Lords is law! The measures in the Nov 2025 Budget are law! The 2026/27 spending plans are law! The extra financial support for exports is law! Well done Labour!

Labour announce major investment in Welsh railways, backing the Transport for Wales' vision for the future. Building on the Welsh Governments £1.1bn in upgrading and electrifying the Core Valley Lines and £800m investment in a new rail fleet, this will see the transformation of rail services. 1/3

Good news this morning: inflation fell to 3.0% in January, down from 3.4% in December. This was in line with expectations, with the Bank of England last month suggesting it will continue to fall in future months towards the 2% target - perhaps as soon as April.

He’s getting a lot of praise right now for his foreign policy AND the economic recovery. That IS well-deserved. And it’s why they have pushed ahead of Reform to win the GE at Ladbrokes.

Can we all get this information correct in our heads: + Labour have not made any cuts to PIP eligibility and, as of now NONE are planned. + Labour also was NEVER looking at cutting the rates of PIP someone can get. In fact, rates are actually increasing with inflation. 1/3

I’m not sure about this Warren. It is likely that Labour are making Brexit work without having to rejoin. If we have the economy and freedom-ish of movement - do we need to rejoin? We could end up with a Norway+ style deal. Will the EU and NATO even survive a post Trump and Putin era?

Rejoin the EU? Not so sure. For a start - it’s not a library. Would take years of diplomacy. We’d have a worse deal: no veto, the euro, freedom of movement. Would the EU emerge ‘unscathed’ in a post-Putin/Trump world anyway? Labour are taking us to a Norway+ style and I’m good with that.

I think it's a fantastic idea. It does 2 things. It encourages enrollment in the military (severely needed) by giving it a go with no long term commitment. It also gives a purpose to kids who have no idea what to do. Giving them new skills, confidence, friendships for life in civilian jobs too.

I (as a leftist and an academic ) have always been a supporter of a form of national service - environmental, care or military for a ‘school year’ between 16-21. Like a form of apprenticeship- and with accreditation. This comes close and I’m a fan.
