Just another cat on the internet. I chew wires, fix things, and spend way too much time thinking about computers, airplanes, old cars, and safety. No, I’m not from Iceland, I just love the name.

I should note that there are places automation will likely help. Bespoke models could be a good addition to current processes, *if* we are careful about designing the automation so that it helps rather than hinders humans doing a job.

There has been a mad rush to automate every part of the development process for critical things like vehicles using the synthetic text extruders. Lots of this seems fueled by fear that the competition will do it first, creating a sort of intellectual race to the bottom.

I don’t hold out a lot of hope for states with representative democracies, but to make any such a viable path to a just future absolutely requires drastic measures to address corruption. That means things like rules about disclosing and recording every meeting. …

LLMs are built on theft. Not just in the data used to train them, but also in their use to re-package information for a user. You can’t steal the work of producing meaning encoded in text at this scale without eventually killing those producers.

Fidelity’s Director of Global Macro saying that the AI trade has been “dead money” for three months, and that it’s inflationary, meaning (as I’ve discussed multiple times) that the more debt they raise the more expensive debt becomes and the more they build data centers the more expensive it gets

On the Al front, the trade has been dead money for more than 3 months now. The metrics I am following (token expenditures and GPU lease rates) are all flat to down. The price of memory (DRAM) seems to be the only thing that is still going up.

Yes, Al will change our lives (for the better l trust) and down the road it may well unleash a productivity miracle that raises the economy's non-inflationary speed limit enough to keep the world's mounting debt burden sustainable. But until then the buildout is inflationary with an unknown return for the companies who are investing trillions into compute. The demand fo capital (equity and debt) from corporates is rising at a $3.3 trillion clip.

I don’t understand the furore about refusal to support transphobic politicians. If you’re not even on board with full restoration of the rights of women, trans, and non-binary people that were taken away in recent memory, let alone progress toward equity, giving you power is counterproductive.

Called it. The father was charged with punching the child while the mother did witness intimidation to cover it up. www.wbur.org/news/2026/09...
The case was reported to the state in early 2025. Both parents were charged in connection with an incident at the family’s Southborough home in late January of that year, according to court documents. WBUR is not identifying the teenager, who is a minor.

Joseph Kutzko was accused of punching and threatening his then-15-year-old child at the family home on Jan. 28, 2025, records from Westborough District Court show. A Southborough police detective wrote that Kutzko punched the victim in the shoulder and pulled them by their hair. Kutzko later allegedly threatened to kill the victim “for not singing in tune during a birthday celebration,” according to court records.

Kutzko was arrested the next day and pleaded not guilty. In setting bail, the judge referred to three prior restraining orders against Kutzko, one of which is permanent. She did not say whether any are tied to this case.

The child’s mother, Arlene Kutzko, was charged with witness intimidation after allegedly pressuring the child to “tell the school that she was exaggerating and being stupid.”
