Dwindling reservoirs aren't the result of "bad weather" or "natural cycles". They're a choice our society made. Growing thirsty crops like alfalfa and pecans in the desert is a choice. Refusing to reduce CO2 emissions is a choice. Refusing to change the water laws as reality changes is a choice.
A buoy and its anchor sitting on dry ground. An aerial view of the dwindling reservoir. A second aerial view taken with a long lens. You can see a small forest fire in the distant mountains.A view from the marina, where you can see the "bathtub rings" of previous water levels high above.

Was there any coverage of the recent record warmth in both the Arctic and Antarctic? Multiple global datasets now confirm these records, and I think it's really quite striking. Here's some very quick plots showing NOAAGlobalTempv6 data from October too. And see my earlier posts.
A line graph shows the time series of Arctic mean surface temperature anomalies for each October from 1850 through 2025. There is a long-term increasing trend and large year-to-year variability. The mean surface temperature anomaly in October 2025 was 3.78°C for this region. Anomalies are computed relative to a 1910-2000 climate baseline. All data is from NOAA/NESDIS/NCEI NOAAGlobalTemp v6.0.0 on this graphic.A line graph shows the time series of Antarctic mean surface temperature anomalies for each October from 1850 through 2025. This year's #Arctic sea ice freeze-up is clearly the latest on record for the Baffin Bay region (located between Greenland and the Canadian Arctic Archipelago). The extent of ice cover is a record low for the date there. Data from @nsidc.bsky.social at nsidc.org/data/seaice_...
Line graph time series of 2025's daily Arctic sea ice extent compared to each year from 1979 to 2024 as shown with thin lines in colors from purple to white. This graph is for Baffin Bay. There is large daily variability, but a long-term decreasing trend during all months of the year. A seasonal cycle is also visible in this region.

Code UFB!!! The currently predicted October 25th global anomaly is 1.28°C (1981-2010 baseline). The "delta" between the 1981-2010 baseline and the 1850-1900 baseline for October 25th is 0.62°C. Adding, we get 1.28°C + 0.62°C = 1.90°C above the pre-industrial baseline.

Renewables were 92% of new power added in 2024. Low carbon sources now accounts for 41% of worldwide electricity. Though, I can’t help but look at this graph and think about how much better it would look if we weren’t retiring nuclear plants so much faster than we’re building them.
A graph of low carbon sources over the last 20 years. Nuclear 9% (down from 17 in 2000) hydro 14% (very consistent) solar 7 and wind 8 (up from basically zero)
