It‘s jarring to see some people you’d never expect to have the ‘chosis show that they indeed have the ‘chosis. I don’t know whether to feel frustrated, angry, or just sad.

My lack of interest in AI stems from how I've structured my life around freedom and intentionality. I'm in the fortunate position that allows me to move slow and optimize for experience not productivity.

If the Unites States is going all in on ”SI”, well, I guess it‘s a good thing I’ve had my speedometer set to show km/h for over a year now.

All else aside, I think “blobdar” is an objectively delightful term and probably not far off from how weather laypeople perceive radar plots. (my phone also tried to autocorrect it four times, and it was something different each time)

It’s good to see Discord getting some well-deserved backlash, but the age verification is just the latest in a long string of reasons I refuse to touch it.

I don't know how to put it nicely that people should have to put in a modicum of effort to learn to use technology and software and you shouldn't want it to treat you like a baby

This; all of it. If you believe that people should be paid a fair and living wage for their work, but that doesn’t extend to journalists or others who create or curate informative or entertaining media, that’s a cognitive distortion you really need to address.

On some level, I just want us to collectively cut the tether and let these people get the reality check they so desperately need on their own schedule. My only worry is what they'll do once it comes... and it will come. PS: I'm a hater precisely because I'm good at what I do.

Listen, you can’t have kids say the words “with liberty and justice for all” nearly every day for twelve years of their childhood and adolescence and not expect them to grow up and actually believe in making it a reality. That’s what America is and what being American means.

Just so I’ve said it at least once: I despise LinkedIn with the fury of a thousand suns. It is a completely useless afterthought of a web site that serves as little more than a self-important slop factory. AND YET… I still occasionally go and look at how much of an awe-inspiring train wreck it is.

This is your reminder that mapping software providers have automated pipelines that ingest government data publications and apply changes to their databases. It doesn't make sense to scramble engineers to override one change manually. Save your energy. You might need it.

Textbook example of ignoring traditional media at your own peril (I work in broadcast media, so I may be biased). Just because you and/or your friends don't listen to the radio or watch linear TV doesn't mean no one does. Radio has outlasted MTV! We also don't spy on you to sell commercials 🤷‍♂️
