Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 05/10/2026This is, at best, a 1.5-layer joke that I am extremely proud of. 000
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I ended up having my issues (no pun intended) with it as a whole (not even comic book ones!), but I don’t think I’d trade any of it for not having Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan. (I think I phrased that right? 🤔) 010
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 04/10/2026The look of victory on Jackson Lamb’s face was so satisfying. He remains undefeated. 010

Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Anyway, slightly atypical? Some good stuff in there that helped get me through AP US Gov and law school back in the day. Even if not a submittal, worth your rewatch. Doughnuts and standard L&O coffee cups too! (And relatively baby John Doman pre-The Wire!) 000
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Not to mention a wonderful Adam Schiff closing line! “Nice to know that the entire criminal justice system rises or falls on the decency of a Mike Bodak.” 100
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I’ll likely never submit it (or anything else; you guys scare me 😜), but I got a hankering for L&O last night and immediately thought of “We Like Mike,” S07E20, which I always think of as the most likable L&O episode ever. And have thought so for… oh, good lord, some thirty years now. 100
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I maintain that all gift card envelopes should have little dollar signs on them! VISUALLY TELL ME WHAT’S INSIDE, YOU COWARDS 010

Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Blah, I, unclear, leave it to you to make it clear when asking questions, but I am genuinely curious about how she made it… happen? (If that makes sense! I’ve always found it really impressive voice work and acting.) 000
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 03/10/2026@sarahdbunting.bsky.social There is a specific L&O episode that I love and am deeply afraid to submit to the EHG canon lest it not get in. And yet it hits almost every darn trope in the best way. (And also, rewatching it, makes me want to rewatch L&O and get judgmental about spinoffs.) 100
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I got your questions for you, Will, even if asked in the form of a statement! 😜 010
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I’m going to assume that voicing Azula from Avatar is already on the list, but I’m curious about how she made that mental deterioration happen (what decisions to make), especially assuming things weren’t recorded in sequence. 210

Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 29/09/2026@stevelieberart.bsky.social Oho! Look what I got in the mail today! 110
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 28/09/2026And this honestly makes me trust a network (as it were) more. 000
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I do think that more of the streaming networks have got to adopt the Slow Horses model of filming, and it’s surprising to me that more haven’t. You don’t forget about the show when you know there’s another in the bag and actually ready to go! 110
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 27/09/2026This does make me want a novelization of the first season of Widow’s Bay and see what all gets added in. The novelization of Batman (1989) was very confusing me to as a child. “Wait, this never happened!” 010
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 27/09/2026The 6-episode seasons condense things down to the show’s credit, I think. Adapting the books straight on would bloat the show, even if the books themselves aren’t, to my mind, bloated (and it’s always fun to see a writer get better and better as they go). 110
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Sorry! Nothing spoilery about what I said, I should note; I was going by the TV show for that one, just in case. It was interesting to me to read the first novel after Season 1 and see what got changed and surprised by how much was! 100
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 27/09/2026The copy machine?! (Secret joke only for fans of The Wire) 030
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 27/09/2026It cuts things ruthlessly, conflates and adds where it needs to to actually work for on-screen things, and it WORKS. (Also I think that Saskia Reeves as Catherine Standish is such a treasure. Her look up after the corkscrew scene you mentioned was remarkable.) 100
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 27/09/2026@scotttobias.bsky.social I have caught up on Slow Horses (and therefore your reviews!), and I honestly think this show is maybe the best adaptation from book to screen I can think of (and I have read all but the most recent book (the show got me into them) and am rereading Joe Country now!). 100
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Honest question: Is there a collection of Disney (and maybe specifically Duck) comics you’d recommend starting with? 110

Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Anyway, no one has ever had similar thoughts before and I am clearly a genius. 010
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 25/09/2026It’s not exactly the USA “Blue Skies” thing (which I think is its own thing they should not have mostly abandoned) from back when I was in school, but they definitely share some DNA. Yay TV! 100
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 25/09/2026There are shows that somehow get from should be just entertaining to great (Columbo, etc.) but it’s so nice to have scripted shows that you’re “I’m here for an hour, minus commercials, and I will enjoy myself, probably while eating roasted peanuts, and never be horribly stressed out.” 110
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I do think about this more and more (and it’s obviously not the first time anyone has thought about it, especially after the advent of the Prestige TV Era™️) as a TV fan who follows the critics™️ (also Jay Sherman, but he is for the movies) and appreciates that the good ones know this. 100
Drew @drewcompton.bsky.social · 25/09/2026The thing I don’t understand about animosity toward the CFPB is… any of it? I understand the general idea that people (individuals) don’t want to be overregulated (and generally aren’t), but Theodore Roosevelt busting up monopolies and regulating businesses was a big deal! A good one! 121
