One of my favorite early moments is when Mako's family becomes rich/corrupted overnight because Ryuko starts using the system to achieve her goal. A lesser show would have this be a scheme on the villains' part, but KLK makes it clear that capitalism needs no mastermind to absorb its enemies.

Heck, the first season culminates in a spectacular rebuttal of the notion that one can overthrow fascism by using the existing system, using Stasuki's failure to reinforce the theme that one must "smash the state," not simply replace its leader. You'd think Lenin was a story editor, it's brilliant.

I feel like the revolutionary politics of Kill la Kill are still underappreciated. Lots of stories unravel how capitalism is evil, but few compare the effective and ineffective ways to dismantle it, and then offer an almost step-by-step guide on how to execute a succesful guerilla revolution.

Dungeon Meshi is probably my favorite modern manga, but the one thing it's missing is at no point is there a later chapter where Marcille & Falin just go to town on each other. I'm talking property damage, mysterious fires, animals howling one town over, etc. It would really have fit the story.

It's important to me that my protagonists are all criminals. Kim's broken more laws than I can count, Ling's a left-wing terrorist/bank robber, Elith's beaten up cops, and Melchior's literally a professional villain. But they're indisputably the Good Guys in this capitalist hellscape.
