Book recommendation for you @intogreenwood.bsky.social How the rich enclosed common land and how it has affected society through the centuries to today (slavery, tax, protest) explored via walks in woods. Feels like the threads of Robin Hood expanding through time. By Nick Hayes.

Happy Lamma and Lughnasadh weekend to all who celebrate. I’m celebrating by writing a folk horror story set at harvest time.

Midsummer exists at a fascinating threshold. The days are at their longest, the fields are green, and the world feels full of possibility. Yet from this point forward, the light slowly begins its return toward winter, making the celebration both joyful and bittersweet. #WyrdWednesday

Fernando Pessoa is a poet who’s image is all over Lisbon. He’s famous for having multiple personalities with his poems listed under different pen names but also as if written by a completely different mind. #WyrdWednesday @wyrdwednesday.bsky.social

I really enjoyed the #folkhorror talk from @robertedgar.bsky.social last night. A flying visit but still uncovering massive depth with roots of the genre going back further than I imagined. I left feeling inspired to write, and also with a long reading list of books to get through!

Happy Beltane and International Workers’ Day! This is Walter Crane’s “A Garland For May Day”, first published in 1895. In The Green Issue, it illustrates @verityholloway.bsky.social’s piece on the roots of the folk tradition of Jack-in-the-Green, entangled in the plight of Victorian chimney sweeps.
