Not able to do the watch-along, but this is a great film. Here are my thoughts on it, for those interested.

In the 1950s of rural Ohio, eight year old Seth Dove (Jeremy Cooper) lives with his overwrought and overbearing mother (Sheila Moore) and his fragile, closeted father (Duncan Fraser). His childish imagination leads him to believe that their neighbor, the widow Dolphin Blue (Lindsay Duncan), is a vampire, and that belief is only strengthened when Seth's friends begin being murdered one-by-
one. Town tragedy compiles, resulting in the return of Seth's older brother Cameron (Viggo Mortensen) from military service to look after the family, but it doesn't take long to realize that he's not well. This nightmarish coming-of-age film isn't quite a horror movie, but it is absolutely horrifying. The children are cold and callous and the adults are distant and despondent, all are subject to spontaneous bouts of cruelty, and none are innocent of the palpable sense of doom that resides around every corner. This is a powerful and deeply disturbing drama,
symbolic
and occasionally surreal, and although the acting isn't always top notch, the
dark mood and the bad vibes always shine through. Every scene is like an Andrew Wyeth painting, beautiful but relentlessly bleak, and nobody escapes the frame unchanged. David Longworth, Robert Koons, and David Bloom also appear.
