The problem with the AI rollout is they focused on selling it to people who don’t actually need it to do all the rinky dink shit a person does every day. Instead, they should’ve started by working with the research community/academia, and government to develop use cases relevant to Humanity.

I’m actually curious why OpenAI and others didn’t have their AI’s work these problems sooner. Because THAT is actually how we should use AI. Not to summarize an email or make a shitty slide deck. Just crazy math; analyze James Webb telescope images; test various protein combos to develop new drugs…

It’s very easy to do so, too! When my son and I play fight, we do so with “mutual consent.” In other words: If he wants to roughhouse, but I don’t, I tell him “Dad doesn’t consent to that right now.” We also emphasize respecting body boundaries (your own and others’) and the word “stop.”
