I used to get pleasure generally after I was done - if I’d gone further or faster. Or satisfaction in another 5K bagged, nice scenery, pounding a frustrating day out one mile at a time. If I cracked a hill then that had a quick mid-run happy hit 👍🏻

I never emailed anything needing a response to people. Only FYI stuff so they wouldn’t come back and find they had gaps in knowledge, stuff that could wait if they were the only approver, or when we got to the last few days then I’d email approvals that could wait for them. Holiday means holiday!

Work offers it - but only bookable at the big hospital, because apparently that’s the only one that exists 🙄. They will do roving vaccinations at other sites eventually, but not with any warning and bugger if you’re not on shift that day 🙄. You’d think they’d make sure their staff are protected…

We have to lift up to the highest level (those who need it), not drop to the lowest level (because some abuse it). Those who abuse things like sick notes, will have other tell tale signs - persistent lateness, errors in work, etc.

I work in a hospital reception. When I check next of kin phone numbers, or ask for them to add, very few people can know them without looking them up. We got phones to remember them for us, so we lost the ability. This is easily provable. So why would be risk losing far more important skills?
