Random bit of family lore: my grandmother was born in Kenova WV in 1920 and, to the best of our knowledge, never left the continental US except for one trip to Hawaii and one to Germany, both with family. When she passed in 2005, we found these two items under her bed, which none of us can explain.

One of the funniest things that has happened at my teens’ table is that, completely organically, the kids (who all have actual phones) have decided that they’re going to use non-phone items whenever they make phone calls in-character. It consistently cracks me up.

Great hike on the McKeldin Switchback today (even with the literal pall over things from the smoke — we were largely protected by the valleys, but stay safe out there!).
