You mean “pathogens that have not spilled over yet into humans”. These already exist in zoonotic reservoirs or their potential for recombination into more deadly forms just needs a human or animal host to provide the incubator. A well funded “research response pipeline” and ecosystem is critical.

Maybe we have stumbled upon a difference between lying Canadians and Americans? I think the squinty eye also conveys fake empathy while lying to your face.

Is he going to swallow the lawsuits afterwards for those peptides with unforeseen side effects in early pre-clinical studies or phase 1 trials? There is a major push-pull going on with peptides between the momentum on compounding/ open use & heavy regulation sought by pharma to reclassify as drugs.

Uhm … spending on policing (municipal in Toronto) has nothing to do budget-wise with nurses or teacher’s salaries (both provincially funded in Ontario). Policing is ~8-9% of the city budget from property taxes and grants, same amount as daycare. The funding for the public school board is double that

When this happens at a University (ie hiring additional part time staff for a portfolio (Assoc. Deans 👀)) - the anticipation that is often fulfilled is that this is an exercise in deferring accountability for something potentially contentious. Usually major cuts or unpopular policies. #Tracks

We have a Greek system too in Canada at many Universities. Most are low key and a few actually have a good reputation - eg Alpha Phi Omega (community service focused) and Sigma Phi Delta (physics and engineering). UBC has several frats and sororities.

And still unelected … arguably Avi possess more of a threat if elected to parliament - which may suggest this is a form of character assassination in advance of a bielection or general election. If Carney calls a snap election in November, Avi is out of time.

New Cancer Drugs Are Revolutionary. Why Don’t More Patients Get Them?
Targeted gene therapies are highly effective at stopping cancers, but the very abundance of the treatments, plus cost and sluggish change, are hindering access.
