New paper out in @plosone.org with @dl-arch.bsky.social! We used Settlement Scaling Theory on c. 2,000 houses across 80 sites in SW Asia. Cities aren't just stacked houses: they're dense interacting networks, and we can measure when urban integration kicks in. doi.org/10.1371/jour...

An article last year claimed that tree-ring data shows a link between drought and late Roman conflicts such as the "Barbarian Conspiracy" of 367.
