Is there a joke about the five lobes and 2 fissures of the lungs? Re: "Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks..." I remember a friend shaking his head when someone told them they had triple pneumonia - He thought "you have only two lungs..."

Might have been that DT debated a near zombie, then ran against someone people felt they didn't know and who couldn't answer some key questions. And who preached to the people in her silo too much? I don't know.

Mark must have lived among folks ready to listen and hang in there with them. I think people in my house are the same way. Not sure that makes any difference to you all, but thought it was worth sharing. I agree - people usually not wanting to accompany us down the "dark paths."

We hide our pain We try to laugh Fools to think our tears Would provoke holy wrath We learn the protocol We bare our souls to none We praise our peers For the optimism shown "Brave men don't cry", we say As we watch the world turn to dust The tears of God fall for us Eye of the Storm Mark Heard

People have a clock when it comes to being around the chronically. They’re supportive at first - but if you don’t get better quickly - they grow resentful & abandon you. They never consider that it might be hard for US that we will never get better. They never consider our feelings at all.

It's Time to Throw Away the 'Coulda, Woulda, Shouldas' and Practice Radical Rest
When you're chronically ill you can't push your body the way non disabled people do. You have to learn to rest. There's few words more damaging to us than the 'coulda, woulda, shouldas'

If you’re newly disabled - you may find one of the toughest battles you’ll have is with yourself. Unlearning internalized ableism, convincing yourself it’s “ok” to rest, ask for help & rely on others… these are not easy things to do. But they are critically important for survival.
