There is a shibboleth you see sometimes about "Western Civilization" being the product of Athens, Rome, and Jerusalem, and I'm sorry, if you're including the Ancient Israelites under that umbrella there is no way to avoid the Assyrians, Babylonians, Egyptians, Phoenicians, Canaanites, etc.
