And the problem gets worse over time because the more often people encounter this kind of hostile, bad-faith / scolding energy, the more the kinds of people you want to talk to will go, “Nah, this isn’t for me,” and disappear.

My theory: all online spaces suffer from the Frequent Poster problem where the people who are online a ton define a space because they are ALWAYS replying, drowning out people who have lives that involve being less online. Bluesky is heavily tilted toward the Frequent Posters who give bad vibes.

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

“The effect of ChatGPT on educators’ lives is catastrophic. Whether you intended to do it or not, you’ve made every teacher’s life infinitely more difficult than it was two years ago. So, just let that settle in… If students are using it to compose, which is the biggest tragedy of all, they’ll never learn to write. And their voice is stolen from them. They’ll never have the ability to say their truth and tell their own story. And that’s silencing an entire generation or two.”

Watching Stand Alone Complex and I think my favorite lyric in the end song is “She’s Incredible Math”, that such an incredible compliment.
Lithium Flower
Song by Scott Matthew • 2003
Overview
Lyrics
She's so cold and human
It's something humans do
She stays so golden solo
She's so number nine
She's incredible math
Just incredible math
And is she really human?
She's just so something new
A waking lithium flower
Just about to bloom
I smell lithium now
Smelling lithium now
How is she when she doesn't surf?
How is she when she doesn't surf?
How is she when she doesn't surf?
I wonder what she does when she wakes up?
When she wakes up?So matador
So calm
So oil on a fire
She's so good
She's so good
She's so goddess lithium flower
So sonic wave
Yeah, she's so groove, yeah
She's so groove
Yeah
Wow, where did she learn how to surf?
Wow, where did she learn how to surf?
Wow, where did she learn how to surf?
You know l've never see the girl wipe out
How does she so perfectly surf?
How does she so perfectly surf?
How does she so perfectly surf?
I wonder what she does when she wakes up?
I wanna go surfing with her I wanna go surfing with her I wanna go surfing with her I wanna go surfing with her
