My thoughts are with all my fellow people who have complicated, conflicted, angered, traumatic, and/or sorrowful feelings and thoughts regarding Mother's Day. You are not alone, and I hope we can find strength for today. Be kind to yourself.

This essay is Providence-centric, but the place you live on earth probably has people in it, & all of you are part of the ecosystem there. Maybe some of the reminders and recommendations in it will be useful to you in that place. pvdeye.org/for-earth-da...

I need more comics in my life! Please, if you have any recommendations, please let me know. I am a huge fan of Matt Fraction's Hawkeye. I also like Deadpool, X-men, Spiderman, Harley Quinn, Batman, and Hellboy on top of my head (I know there's way more but character limits and all that)

I painted for the first time in years yesterday. Was at my friend's place, and we each worked on our pieces for an hour. I did mine freehand and reference free. It's not my best work, but I'm glad to have a brush in my hands again. Sadly, I can't seem to get the right lighting for the picture.

In similar news... Big shout out to the MGM Fenway staff members and the EMTs there today for being awesome people when I was having a Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (pots) attack. They went above and beyond to make sure I was safe and ok!! Still feel a bit embarrassed that it happened.

If you don’t have a local library card, it should be your New Year’s resolution to get one. It’s an easy resolution to keep and you’ll actually use it, trust me.

This pup is so good at wagging his tail that he broke the space-time continuum. 12/10 honest mistake

a little white pup with a few big brown spots on his head and back stands on a black tile floor and looks up at you with wide eyes in a slightly grainy photo. his tail is wagging so fast it’s just one big blurry arch, like a peacock’s triumphant plumage or an actively flying aircraft. one of his front paws is lifted slightly, so we’re gonna err on the side of aircraft and he’s already puppared for takeoff.

My roommate has two cats, and one tries to steal food from the other, so they cut out a hole in a Tupperware bin that will only fit the little one. That doesn't stop the food thief from trying.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need to justify your reading preferences and choices to anyone. Audiobooks count as reading. Also, you don't have to finish books you don't enjoy. Don't read to impress, read for yourself. Life's too short, love yourself, ok? Signed, a librarian
