All these glowing write up’s by the usual suspects, Peston, Rigby, Mason, regarding Badenoch’s speech. Not one asking where the money is going to come from for her ridiculous defence dome & billions upon billions of tax giveaways? Considering what Truss did, not pointing this out, is a disgrace.

I noticed that on #bbcqt recently. The RW panellist referred to ‘fighting age’ men in boats rather than working age. Of course ‘working age’ doesn’t divide people and excite their juices as much 🙄

If you just substitute the words 'working age' for 'fighting age', suddenly the arrival of youngish men and women doesn't sound threatening. Rather, it sounds like exactly what we need for an ageing population.

Big anniversary today. On this day 10 years ago, at about 12:30 pm I smoked my last cigarette. It was a tough journey with many previous failed attempts but now I don't give it a second thought. If you are on or thinking about the same journey good luck. And don't let failure stop you trying again.

If Burnham is actually able to carry through everything he promised today and is allowed to build on them (eg eventually nationalise water completely, actually increase the housing stock significantly etc) he could end up being the most consequential PM since Thatcher.
