With the flipper mech apart, it's confirmed a rebuild was needed. The plunger and coil stop both showing their age. I'm also going to convert the assembly to a newer design that Williams adopted just after Whirlwind where the return spring is located on the side rather than over top of the plunger.

Back to working on the pinball - a Williams Whirlwind. The right flipper would stop working for minutes at a time. I knew they needed a rebuild so decided to do that. I then found the wire that wasn't soldered properly and causing my intermittent issues. A reminder to always check the common faults!

Doing a slow strip in my garage... I have a Ms Pacman getting a new decal for the control panel and the joystick really needed a rebuild as well. Citristrip and some plastic has really done well to get it down to bare metal. It's time consuming, (and smells disturbingly like Nair), but effective.

Doing some upgrades/maint on my Whirlwind pinball. A marked improvement on the spinners with a cleanup and new stickers. Learning a lot about electrical and mechanical upkeep, but really love owning this game.

From what I could find - one section couldn't survive as there is only a singular pneumatophore (which is the air bladder that lets it ascend to feed) at one end and then a disbursement of the other functions throughout the rest of the chain. Thanks for asking, as it was interesting to research!

I have two kinds of BRB screens for this reason. An extended one with clips for entertainment if I'm away for more than a few minutes. My bot will post a message on loop that I'm temp away. Then an on-screen 'afk' style that leaves the camera/game going if it's a shorter stretch/potty/snack break.
