With Count Edmont, it was a lot more tense. Haurchefant was a very close friend of hers by this point, so as Zin started to learn the Ishgardian fixation on patriarchal bloodlines and children out of wedlock, she started to understand the strained vibes, and it very much colored her perception.

Mother Miounne's maternal behavior toward fresh-faced adventurers was pretty welcome when Zin arrived in Gridania, because she's used to women she doesn't really know offering guidance and advice about very specific things. It helped that Mother Miounne stepped back when she had her feet under her.

Zin's a Seeker whose upbringing really affects how she feels when someone acts parental at her. She was raised primarily by two bonded women, never met her sire (who was not the Nunh), and had a community of adults looking out for her.

Exactly! Gotten by without that button on your bar because the other support can handle it and you’ll just share the blame if it’s not done? Prefer to tunnel vision on the boss and if the add is ignored it’s a dps problem? Welcome to 100% responsibility.

If you are okay with quietly doing your thing while she is quietly doing her thing, and occasionally conversation happens and then it gets quiet, then over time more conversation will happen and she will talk about more things. Expect to accompany her fishing or endure the aroma of dyemaking.

Zin avoids talking about a lot of things, and oscillates between deflection and asking a lot of the other person to hide it, or avoidance and not bringing it up at all. Both of which can be uncomfortable and off-putting.

It’s never really just one on one with Zin; Airraim is present, and may not be paying attention, or could be commenting directly to Zin. If you can meet Zin in one of her hobbies, it’s a lot easier to connect with her on a more meaningful level, but it will be tied to that interest for a while.

Zin can easily be likable on a surface level. She does get anxious, but she can project cheeriness to be pleasant to interact with. Getting past surface level with her means learning she is very private, has hyperfocus intensity, will forget to write or use linkpearl, and is hard to get to know.

I’d say “I’ll just pop invuln and use the Phoenix Down” except DRK problems lol. Invuln then disengage without hitting boss for a while is not going to be especially effective at rescuing a pull

Like it’s not even a full reason, if they *really* wanted they could have made an accessible griffin like they put geshunpests in the Shroud. But I want to hope they’ll also bring in more lore in the future when we do have griffins available.

Lmao honestly I would grin at that macro. And if a dps isn’t one with rez or they can’t rez due to mana/other valid reason, and I’m still up too? Then I should be the one to slap on some mits and do the Phoenix Down cast, I’m more likely to survive “ah shit these AoEs got dropped right on me.”

My comment in Fruity’s stream was on someone implying BST forgot established lore by not including griffins, which I found hard to substantiate given that simple fact of having no ARR-accessible griffins. I’m sorry it made you self-conscious as someone who really wants the griffins & more now.

Honestly super fair. I think about how deeply excited I was to have dodos as pets and I can understand your disappointment about boars not being included. (And I thought that was super strange myself.) if it doesn’t grab you now but might in the future, no shame in setting it aside til it does.

🤝 I have to tell myself not to pot on mine in case I need to Phoenix Down because the energy of killing my add first is so satisfying, especially for a tank. And yeah, the one time I did kill them all, everyone was cheering me on, I try to be attentive to “how much would it suck to watch” otherwise.

Yeah like! I get “it can be hard to read and might take a few runs to catch on” but when it’s more than a month in and the person in your expert roulette says they still hate the fight because they always die and are surprised it hasn’t been patched to fix the difficulty….. then I wonder.

I just find it very funny that tanks have to interrupt, healers have to Esuna, and dps have to target an add, all common actions presented to them in other content and intended for their roles to handle, yet some complaints about the boss fight are that it’s not fair to expect players to do that.

Yeah it’s a lot of fun! Fascinating boss fight design. I get why we don’t see a lot of it, many people hate it, but I think it’s very fun to shake things up. Plus it’s thematically exciting/scary to have an antagonistic force dividing the party to put everyone through Saw traps with actual saws.

If someone dies, it waits until either they are revived, or someone else kills theirs, and it chains to the first available person who isn’t currently chained. Source: me, a tank who has fought all four in one run. (Phoenix Downs came in very handy here.)
