learning and calibration r not the same. learning goes one direction (mostly), u can overwrite knowledge but u can’t really delete it. calibration is when u over/under compensate to map out a range then find the sweet spot. hobbies do both! they help you calibrate all ur little subsystems and learn

point i’m making is most advice ppl give u is for them. the old person is always gonna tell u old person stuff, the young person is always gonna ignore aspects of wear/tear/scope to chase something short term they r stronger 2gether. get them to cover each others corners. it’s good! it’s beautiful

U are always old & young to someone & urself. this is gift, not a conflict! most young ppl who seem energetic simply do not ask for permission to live, most senior 2 u simply govern their energy output. part of how u get weak/cynical is burnout! tapped out our reserves in our youth, it’s not free

we tend to discard our youths for being cringe, then we get cynical later. OR, we give our most successful ideas from youth too much credit and sometimes never grow up. u get older n resentful, bc younger ppl never stop Doing More Ideas at the ideas factory. ur like “but i built the ideas factory!

meaning, take those old naive ideas, find the novel aspect to polish or reincorporate. sometimes u were cooking at age 8 or 15 & it may be the spice u need at 35 to finish that Big or Small idea. U are cooperating with every version of urself, u are thousands of great minds!

i've had people tell me that using unfamiliar software is traumatizing, that looking up computer problems you encounter to find solutions is literally impossible to do now that google sucks (it does suck, but you can still do basic troubleshooting cmon), and clicking "next" requires coding knowledge
