I hadn't clocked this American federal film incentive before, and it's terrific news for American film workers but seems incredibly frightening for Kiwis who work below the line and have relied on being a location for American production the last few decades.

Not a lot of people here mentioning the actual director's name; Bahman Ghobani made the excellent A TIME FOR DRUNKEN HORSES but hasn't featured in any major way in international markets for a decade (arguably two), & for aging directors, the easiest 2026 options are "AI bros" or "don't make a film"

Patricio Guzmán, a titan of cinema, especially Latin American nonfiction, has passed. THE BATTLE OF CHILE is one of the most important documentary works ever made. Even in more recent films like NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHGT he continued to preserve his country’s historical memory. RIP
