This part is also super interesting to me because I am old enough to remember when part of the sales pitch for autonomous vehicles was that they could coordinate, that you'd replace traffic with a "swarm" of vehicles acting in concert to move safely but faster than humans.

So it’s just a massive fuckstorm because they don’t have reasoning in that capacity. The cars don’t talk to each other. If a car sees that there’s 10 cars in front of it that are all trying to move at the same time, they don’t respond to each other. It’s just based on what it as an individual is trying to accomplish, and trying to make sure it doesn’t crash into anything. So it’ll over-yield and sit there waiting for something to get out of its way. Because the main thing with Waymo is they don’t want these things to crash.

I don't believe gen AI will ever be able to create fiction or art of any real merit. It's just using statistics to remix existing shit. But in the unlikely event that ever happened, I still wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Human creativity is joy & fulfillment even on the days when it's hard
