LLM's are helpful because they're trained on years of high quality educational material and forums where people helped each other. People aren't visiting forums or paying for educational content anymore because of LLM's. The well isn't going to magically fill itself in perpetuity.

A take I see often online is that it doesn't matter if code is "clean" - readable, simple, decoupled, easy & fast to test - as long as it works. They're missing the point. Code that's hard to understand, complex, tightly-coupled and hard/slow to test is very likely to break. There's no tradeoff.

This instructor did what so many of us are doing: adapt. The grief is not because we can't adapt or because we "fear technology" or because we are "in denial." It is because we have had the chance to have this amazing experience of helping/watching students figure out what they think and value that.
Like so many professors who have been confronted with the dispiriting new reality of student work, Peters adjusted, adding some handwritten brainstorming processes to her course, in the hope of making it A.I.-proof. But when she presented these new expectations to her students, something unexpected happened. “A wave of sadness washed over me, and I actually got choked up in front of the class.” Peters writes. “ ‘Before AI,’ I told them, ‘Students used to work hard to come up with their own ideas. I’d help, and they’d struggle, but they’d come to something that was their own. That doesn’t happen anymore and I grieve that.’ ”

UC Berkeley Law creates new AI policy that bans AI for "conceptualizing, outlining, drafting, revising, translating, or editing any work submitted for credit" or exams because "thinking remains the sine qua non of good lawyering (and of a quality legal education)." That's what I'm talking about.
Rule:
The use of AI is prohibited for aid in conceptualizing, outlining, drafting, revising,
translating, or editing any work submitted for credit. AI use is prohibited for any use for
any purpose in any exam situation. Students may not upload course
materials—including assignments, readings, slides, class recordings, or other class
content—into generative AI systems. AI can be used for research on papers ONLY for the
limited purpose of identifying sources, such as cases, statutes, or secondary sources.
Students are responsible for the accuracy of their research and all other aspects of their
submitted work. Citations to sources that do not exist will raise a presumption of
prohibited AI use
