Am I missing something with the new NHS priorities? The only reference to people with learning disabilities is a reduction in mental health inpatient stays? Really? Have I just travelled back 30 years? Nothing about poor general health that causes people to die almost 30 years early? Health checks?

Foster care is at a critical crossroads. We need urgent reform: 1. Better financial support for foster carers. 2. A rebalancing of power and respect between social workers and foster carers. 3. Systemic changes, including portability of foster carers’ approval, to grant carers more autonomy.

Transitions comes up again as a key issue. Engaging early, applying ‘grace periods’ between children’s & adults’ services, working in a joined up way… all important in terms of ‘managing demand’ (yeah I know, it’s not human-centred language but I get why they’re using it) #ncasc24
