The Nightstar. It wasn't even one I ever thought about until I painted it and started seeing other painting it too, and every time I think what a cool looking Mech it is! 😁

Careful though - they can quickly become their own addictive hobby! I had almost no painted Mechs prior to this year... 😅

I find painting a few Mechs such a wonderful break in-between painting my hordes of Eldar. I use the Mech painting time to do color schemes I might not otherwise find a context to paint in and also experiment with a variety of basing themes.

Always hated them. The posing was just awful. Might be my least-liked Eldar models after the Moose Farseer.

(Which to be clear, I am not rewarding - my feelings on that are a lot stronger than my mild interest in seeing either on a big screen again.)

I enjoyed the movie a lot, and would not even mind seeing it again in the theater, but... I *really* don't want to reward this behavior. Same exact thoughts on the Endgame encore.

TIME TO UPDATE THE PROFILE BANNER! TIME FOR PSL! 🎃 (Image is a pic I took 25ish years ago at the community event haunted house my folks used to set up and run.)

My winter holiday break plan is to have the current painting queue cleared out by then, the new shelves installed (perhaps with upgraded lighting, since 7 shelves cast a lot of shadows for top down lights), and share an updated gallery review of this stupidly large warhost. 😅

020

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

I keep thinking I am done but then think of more things it might be nice to add. Also GW keeps releasing more figures - I figure an expanded range of Exodites has to be coming in 2027! Also, I don't have a Fire Prism...🤔

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

2022: Expanded to 4 shelves. 2025: Expanded to 5 shelves, and those shelves are getting crowded! 2026: I have added a few dozen more figures to the 2025 image, and am out of room (so crowded now). 2 new shelves ready to install to hold overflow and the models unpainted but in the queue...

Saturday morning, let's go. I hope. Maybe. This week has been BRUTAL and I am still recovering, but hoping I feel up to go check out the new Warhammer paints demos in a bit. However THIS new Bishop Briggs song is an absolute anthem that might hopefully get me up and out. ❤️ #TarisWeekendBangers

If I had shared my workspace a month ago, it would have been an absolute disorganized mess! 😅 My keyboard was always in the way, and I kept shuffling paints, projects, papers and pens around. An IKEA run for the stands and trolley cart has been a complete game changer!

110

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

The drawers and cubbies next to and above my desk are for hobby stuff as well. And the lit display cabinet is behind me, holding various completed miniatures as well as my painting queue. None of this counts the nearby closet holding lots of bitz, kits, and materials, nor the bins in storage. 🫠

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Artists! Quote with your workspace. My hobby workspace is also just my general computer desk - so I recently invested in the monitor stands (easy to slip keyboard under) and a trolly cart so I could keep things easy and neat between various demands on my workspace.

Finished the Wraithlord I started over the weekend! Set out simply to use the axe from the avatar kit, and ended up having a bit more fun with it. Final result is almost a Wraithseer vibe. 🌞 #warhammer #40k #aeldari #eldar #warhammercommunity #nerdlings

During the 80s Satanic panic over D&D, my mom bought it to see what the outrage was. She didn't do more than glance it over before tossing it into a drawer with our other games. I pulled it out and was mesmerized by the possibilities.

Despite being a video game dev since 1995, it wasn't a video game that flipped that switch in my head - it was the Dungeons and Dragons red box Basic set. I wanted to be a table top game designer - a 30+ year career in video games was an accident that started as a summer contract QA job at Sega. 🙃

I love The Kills so much! I love that Anthony Bourdain featured them on his show more than once (and is how I discovered them). I have decided to paint - that Wraithlord is calling to me more than Cyberpunk 2077. 😁

Shoulder guns are magnetized, and I already have a huge assortment of already painted weapons I can use there, but I really like that belt-fed Shuriken Cannon, so I made 2 of them magnetized to use here should I wish. At the very least, they look cooler than the mag-fed ones that come with the kit.

Impressed. 20 year old me didn't know if she would survive some nights, wasn't sure she *wanted* to survive some nights. But she lived. And while there have been many harrowing trials since then, I have at least as often THRIVED, beyond any secret wish or imagination of ways she had then.

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

These fuckers take our votes for granted because we can't vote for the other side, and then spend all their efforts to flip the mythical "swing" voter rather than us. And then get mad when we give up and don't show up. They TOLD us whose votes they think are worth the effort and it isn't ours.

010

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

And it's always blackmail for marginalized votes. Decades of facilitating the marginalization with the threat of a worse alternative. I am exhausted and refuse to blame anyone else also fed up and tired of being blackmailed for their vote. How about giving me something to vote *FOR*?!?

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

I guess I am some weird hybrid of CG ad CN? 3 monitors, one on the right which is smaller, just like in the image, but a 3rd on the left, rotated vertically like in the CN example. Or does this make me CE since I have more than 2 monitors and each is a different size or orientation? 😅

010

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

That is the Wraith, from TR 3055. Seems like a little/lesser known Mech, since I was also asked about on Facebook and other places. Though, in fairness, I only recall maybe half the 3055 Mechs by name or sight. And I don't really know the Mechs after that at all. 😅

This GREAT detail should not be overlooked: "At the same time, Bulkhead has made redundancies every year for the past six years, laying off about 20 percent of the company." Every detail about this studio seems a shit show. Literally the worst, most regressive, most toxic aspects of the industry.

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

FUUUCK this studio and this game. Same lead also posted video of himself on Twitter showing off the beds they set up in a meeting room and joked(?) about watching porn together. The same studio has also used the R-slur in official comms. I was interested in this game just 12 hours ago... #gamedev

And the Gloamwood spot I snuck in for my partner. The two cats represent her two cats at the time (who have also long since passed). After Patsy passed away, I updated it so that if you /mourn Patsy, she says "Have I taught you nothing?" (something of a Buddhist mindset).

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

That one in Scarwood was a memorial to a friend of mine that passed away while I was working on Rift pre-launch. I played WoW with him on a PvP server, and he was the best rogue on the server. He ran 2 accounts so he could have both a Nelf and Undead rogue so that no one was safe.

Salvatrix @devsalvatrix.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Made me curious what mine was.🫠 Though I rarely use it anymore. I have some excess miniature stuff that I sometimes think to maybe sell off (are a couple of original Emperor's Champions from the GW 25th anniversary worth anything?), but then it sounds like a hassle and I don't bother...
