Temple's defense lives by a FPC mantra: Fast, physical, and clean. Since Brian L. Smith hired early in 2025, the unit has lived by it. That mantra was present vs. Penn State last week, and a side of the ball that was a weakness has now become a strength: www.inquirer.com/college-spor...

Temple’s ‘FPC’ mantra has fueled the defense’s big leap in Year 2 under DC Brian L. Smith
Through two games, Temple's defense has improved in points allowed, rushing yards allowed, and total defense from last season. It all comes down to how Smith leads the unit.

Temple kept its starters out of the transfer portal. Peter Clarke and others deserve credit.
With the Owls having more continuity, especially on offense, the team's key returners made it a priority this offseason to get the newcomers acclimated. Their approach seems to be resonating.
