It's like... We all need to build the world-destroying bomb the fastest... Because if we don't, someone else will

I'm a die hard Linux user (and have a steam deck too) but when it comes to games, I don't care what the tech is behind it running, I just want it to play well. If that means playing the windows version through proton later I don't care. Not sure why so many demand native Linux.

Interesting -- this is even supported through ENCRYPTED data because it does TLS interception to decrypt and re-encrypt the data! Very cool docs.microsandbox.dev/networking/tls

Let's say you have a secret GitHub or AWS token -- the guest OS can still utilize them *within knowing them* -- via secure random placeholders that get swapped out on the fly when a request is made over the network (e.g. HTTP headers -- but I guess cannot be within encrypted data of course)

DesignPatternPirate @despatternpirate.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

was just reading about microsandbox, tiny & fast VMs that act like containers, and thought this feature was genius. Since it is a VM it can fully control the network stack so the guest OS never sees your secret tokens or passwords docs.microsandbox.dev/getting-star...

Seriously who approved that? Lol basically a campaign that said "you don't need to buy this".

holy crap I have not seen that artwork in years... It's definitely by the same artist(s) that did Ren & Stimpy right? wow

Hey, money talks lol. But I don't know if it always can ruin a channel at least not immediately. I have noticed veritasium has brought in more narrators/editors but content is still pretty good and science based

Wow that good!? Is it a good place to jump into the series for the first time?

So few people probably get to this page, under 1% of users. But a non-zero amount. Probably thousands per day, still dwarfed by the millions of users in general per day.

010

DesignPatternPirate @despatternpirate.bsky.social · 13/04/2025

Notice the 25 year old button image (it's a pure image gif <img> tag, no alt text even) and the fact that the page has zero left & right margin/padding, shunting the text right up to the very edge of the page. I guarantee you no one at Amazon wants to touch this, and probably for good reason.

DesignPatternPirate @despatternpirate.bsky.social · 13/04/2025

I don't care how much money the company makes (billions) or how many years it's been around (25+ years) but all companies inevitably have ancient stagnating parts of the product that no one has touched in years. This is Amazon's cancel order items page on a desktop web browser.

Anthropic (Claude LLM) AI Company doesn’t want people using AI for their resumes or any part of Interview for software developer or IT jobs at their office. How ironic? LOL. The company says AI tools are flooding their system with bogus résumés and too many applicants. They can't find real talent

I think I got sent this VHS as a kid... They really hooked us with this campaign!! Receiving a free VHS tape in the MAIL back in the early 90s, about something NINTENDO was a shell shocking event. The game lived up to the hype anyway!

Bingo..I do this with the quickness as soon as I see a login prompt! Google sometimes prompts with "Report as Spam & Unsubscribe?" and I click it, I think because there are some special email headers for unsubscribing that may operate differently from web sites.

Even after you posted about it being a hub like 19 times 😅

Yeah, which is great! And I do think it will be great. But PS4 Pro also struggled with 60fps 1080p games. There were not that many. Part of that is dev decisions, option for graphical detail over framerate.

And also maybe set the phone date in the past just to be safe.

I'd love just 1080p 60fps but worry if the switch 2 can even do that...

Wonder if will support cross play also. E.g. Mario kart 8 with old switch and switch 2 in same game.

010

DesignPatternPirate @despatternpirate.bsky.social · 16/01/2025

Zelda BOTW or TOTK 60 fps would be nice on Switch 2 but I think that's unlikely. #switch2

Thank God it's not the "New Nintendo Switch"!! I would not have minded Super Switch but I like Switch 2.

GitHub actions code injection attack via malicious crafted branch name. Interesting! The Pull Request wasn't even merged but must have done something when GitHub Actions ran on the request. Be careful with your automated testing systems running on untrusted user code!

Sadly I do not think this will last. Every free platform (no cost of entry barrier) inevitably will become more spam ridden, the more popular it gets.

DesignPatternPirate @despatternpirate.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

Just finished wisps -- amazing! Thought about going for 100% then I saw "beat the game without dying" -- hell no ! Unless I can reload a save on death that sounds insanely difficult

010

DesignPatternPirate @despatternpirate.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

This is what worries me about bluesky and any free platform. They're always going to be ridden with scams and spam, never ending uphill battle. Any money they do have will just go into fighting it until they run out.

DesignPatternPirate @despatternpirate.bsky.social · 22/11/2024

This is amazing but... I'm a bit pessimistic. No free service can grow indefinitely in popularity without becoming a mess of spam and ads... It's just inevitable.
