Martin Brümmer @derbruemmer.bsky.social · 29/07/2026It’s a pyramid system built on the next generations being large and productive enough to sustain the previous ones. In addition, over 20% of the state budget is spent on pensions as well. Overall, Germany is spending 340 billion € on pensions per year. 000
Martin Brümmer @derbruemmer.bsky.social · 29/07/2026It’s mostly pay-as-you-go systems. In Germany, we are paying 18.6% of our salary up to a threshold into the system. It is directly paid to pensioners. In return we get points that reflect how much pension we’ll get. Because there is no investment, there is little liquidity in our banking system. 110

Martin Brümmer @derbruemmer.bsky.social · 12/05/2026From a product perspective, the question is what you actually need. Storing a few files and a bit of metadata long term isn’t hard or expensive. Just vibe code yourself or fork Forgejo or Gitea. The long term funding problem is the core issue to solve here and what ultimately kills OSF. 110
Martin Brümmer @derbruemmer.bsky.social · 12/05/2026For use cases where you arguably want long term, stable data storage, these platforms are just not the right fit. They’ll introduce data retention policies and start monetising more, not even talking about the availability issues. 200
Martin Brümmer @derbruemmer.bsky.social · 12/05/2026The big platforms will increasingly be hammered by AI contributions, leading to stronger restrictions, rate and usage limits, as well as usage billing in order to recoup infrastructure costs. Providing a product for free is becoming less viable as usage explodes. 100

Martin Brümmer @derbruemmer.bsky.social · 05/01/2026I think the drone motors specifically are high RPM, low torque brushless DC motors while for ice cream you want low RPM with high torque. You can convert that with a gearbox but you don’t want the drone sound continuously. I would just look for a brushless DC motor here and metal churners. 010
